From its original setting in the landscape beneath the Wittenham Clumps, HENGE at the Cornerstone brings a taste of the 2022 community event HENGE Settlement to the Cornerstone Art Gallery. This one-night celebration involved a procession, a life-size henge, music, dance, drama, sculpture and a community feast.
HENGE at the Cornerstone is a multi-sensory exhibition of music, land art, video,
photography, poetry performance and workshops, showing how artists responded to ancient sites in the landscape.

About HENGE Festival

Where the Rivers Thames and Thame meet under the Sinodun Hills are exciting Neolithic monuments up to 5500 years old, iron age earthworks, a cursus and the site of a double ring henge. There are the remains of a Roman town, Anglo-Saxon settlements and a major ecclesiastical centre. The sites are also centres for ecological research on climate change and forestry. It is no surprise they continue to draw writers, artists, travellers, composers and ecologists.

Set in the Earthworks, HENGE22 brought together a processional way, a glowing double ring henge, contemporary Land Art, dance, drama, poetry and a contemporary soundscape. Local communities contributed their own stories, both in text and art, that were displayed digitally while we enjoyed refreshments in this peaceful environment.
